Lest we forget

April 24 marks the anniversary of holocaust of over 1.5 million Armenians at the hand of the Ottoman Turks that took place in the first two decades of the 20th century. Zoroastrians were also subjected to continuous persecution and suffered massacres at the hands of Arabs and their cohorts, similar to that of the Armenians at the hands of the Ottomans.

On April 24, 2007, 1.5 million people marched to Tsitsernakaberd and other memorials to remember the victims of the Armenian genocide. Also, 1.5 million flowers were placed and 1.5 million candles lit in Armenian churches in memory of the innocent victims.
