Funds for orphanage
The Bai Dosibai Kotwal Parsi Orphanage in Navsari, founded in 1932 and registered with the charity commissioner, is being run for the benefit of poor and orphaned Parsi boys from towns and villages all over India. At present 40 boys are housed there, whereas earlier there used to be 70 to 80. The boys attend primary, secondary, higher secondary and technical schools. Since their parents/guardians are too poor to contribute anything, all the expenses for education, boarding, lodging, clothing, laundry, medical, etc are undertaken by the Orphanage which also arranges for extra coaching through private tutors. Many of the boys have done well in later life.
The average routine recurring expenditure of the trust is approximately Rs 55,000 per month at present. The Trust also needs to incur capital expenses for major repairs and renovation of the two existing buildings which are very old. We need a bore well with a submersible pumpset and pipelines and raised toilet and bathroom levels along with drainage connections. The capital cost for this works out to Rs 10,00,000, as per preliminary estimates. The trust is in urgent need of funds for meeting recurring as well as capital costs.
Benevolent charitable trusts, institutions and individual Parsis, including former inmates, are requested to donate generously. Naming facility is available for donations exceeding Rs 50,000. Cheques/DD should be drawn in favor of Bai Dosibai Kotwal Parsi Orphanage payable at Navsari and forwarded to Dastur Meherji K. Meherjirana, President, Bai Dosibai Kotwal Parsi Orphanage, Seth J. N. Tata Road, Lunsikui, Navsari 396445.
