Bonny babies… artists

Khorehmand Irani of Deolali toddled away with the Baby Jeroo Minoo Baria Memorial Trophy for the most healthy, happy baby 2006-2007 at the annual Bonny Baby Competition organized by the Rustom Baug Association in Bombay on November 12, 2006. Popular with both parents and grandparents, the competition saw 40 tiny tots ranging in age from birth to three years participating, according to a press release sent by the Association. Ufrina Poonawalla of A. H. Wadia Baug, winning over the hearts of all present, was named the most charming baby of the year, while special cash prizes were awarded to parents of two sets of twins and three other infants. The event was sponsored by Byculla Pharmacy and Johnson and Johnson and cash prizes given by Yazdi and Anahita Desai. Convened by the popular Dr Mehercher Chaina (Popat), the contest was judged by pediatricians Drs Bashir and Archana Khan.

Over 60 school children in the age group four to 14 years from 15 schools and five groups participated in The All Parsees Art and Painting Competition held on November 26, 2006 at Rustom Baug. Ava R. Chiniwala of J. B. Vatchha High School walked away with the Seth Kaikhushroo F. Jaorawala Memorial Trophy for the best art and painting. The competition was judged by artists Rashna Engineer, Ruzbeh Fitter and Hutoxi Irani, revealed a press release issued by Kumi J. Daroowala, chairman emeritus, Rustom Baug Association. Those who stood first were Frehan Mehta (three-five years), Pinaz Deboo (five-seven years), Kayannush Guard (seven-10 years), Shahzad M. Khajotia (10-12 years) and Ava Chiniwala in the 13-14 years group.
