Dinsha Patel: poetic persuasion
Dinsha Patel, Union minister of state for petroleum and natural gas loses no opportunity to break into song. He believes that music can go beyond politics and help in forging a united front on the issue of energy conservation, reports The Week of December 24, 2006. Like former Prime Minister and Bharatiya Janta Party leader Atal Behari Vajpayee, he often spouts poetry and ghazals.
Recently, while arguing his case for use of the latest clean energy fuel technology, Patel resorted to a melodious golden oldie from Bollywood, Saathi haath badaana in the belief that the film song would drive home the message of a united alliance of all stakeholders on conservation and to curb the tendency to blame ministers alone for failures.
