“A spiritual net”

Dastur (Dr) Kaikhusroo JamaspAsa has given a vivid description of the various grades of fire, and how they help bind the community and make Parsis prosper ("A spiritual net,” Parsiana, August 21, 2006). Having said this, what stanza 8 of the Atash Nyaish has to say is that we must keep the fire in our hearts eternally burning, but pray before the earthly fire to remind us of the fire within.

It is this fire within which has helped Parsis blend with the community, made them prosperous and gained for them a reputation of honesty and integrity which was respected throughout the world. If, today, we have gone down in all the attributes, it is because we keep on upgrading the earthly fire without upgrading the fire within. We must pray before the earthly fire to remind us of the fire within, but we seem to have been doing just the opposite.
