May King after the Queen

The main purpose of the May Queen Ball is to bring the young boys and girls together during the summer vacation so that they can learn to sing, dance, make new friends and hopefully find future life partners, explained Dr Porns Turner, president of the Sir Ness Wadia Club. The second aim is to gather funds for the numerous community activities like the All Parsis Athletic Coaching Camp, The Body Beautiful and the weight lifting competition, cricket, football, badmin-ton and other all Parsi tournaments, be-sides different events organized by the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) on the Rustom Baug grounds. These activities are greatly encouraged by the N. N. Wadia and R. N. Wadia Trust headed by Nusli Wadia and assisted by Dhun Gagrat, notes a press release giving de-tails of the 14th May Queen Ball held on April 30, 2006.
The May Queen 2006 crown was conferred onHoorzanirani with Vahbiz Billimoria being the first runner up and Kaizeen Kayani, the second runner-up. The highlight of the evening was the entertainment program where Hommzd Khambatta choreographed the dances and NatashaBhamgara handled the costumes. The cheering and loud clapping and the repeated request for "encores" showed the crowd enjoyed the performances.
Commending the support of the BPP, particularly trustee Dinshaw Tamboly, the organizers also recognized that the pillars of the May Queen Ball are its sponsors. This year they had a record number of six sponsors: Jamshed Guzder, Colgate Palmolive, P. N. Writer and Company, Hilla Builders, the House of Tatas and Pepsi. As always the Ball was promoted by the Sir Ness Wadia Foundation and supported by the World Zoroastrian Organisation.
