“The duty of every…”
Sincere congratulations to Jamsheed Kanga for his excellent article ("The duty of every Zoroastrian…” Parsiana, March 21, 2006). Congratulations also to the authors of the complimentary letters in the issue of May 7, 2006.
I am pained by the sad letter from Canada where the father’s relation with his own daughter, a practising Zoroastrian, is strained because of the inept guidance of our so-called high priests. The sadness is augmented by the fact that the writer of the letter is a learned retired professor. An example of the danger and harm of blind faith.
Without sounding sanctimonious, I would recommend the father be guided more by one of our cardinal beliefs -- one of the most profound imparted by any prophet -- trust your sincere Vohumana (good mind).
No prophet, no pope, no priest, mulla, or pundit can possibly do better. What is more, you will be able to take pride in backing your own judgement, and not blame that on any other.
In closing I am reminded of the old adage "None is so blind, as one who does not wish to see.”
