“Vanishing priests”

The three separate letters by Furrokh Vajifdar, Jamshed R. Udvadia and Brig N. B. Grant all have one thread in common, that the high priests only know how to recite the prayers in Avesta ("Vanishing priests,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, January 7, 2006). I agree with the trio.

Had the high priests been versed in astronomy (planetary movements) they would have welcomed the common Fasli calendar, and had they been versed in eco biology (biological changes under the effects of the environment) and in soteriology (hygiene), they would have declared that the disposal of the dead in the "dakhma” be done away with as the system was now unviable and unworkable.
