Refresher on religion
Twenty-two participants who attended the fourth refresher course for ostas and mobeds from May 8 to 21, 2005 at The Cama Athornan Madressa learnt the basics of the religion, the important liturgical ceremonies and preparation of the traditional chasni (consecrated) food, notes a press release. Additionally they were taken on a day’s excursion to the Bahrot Caves where our ancestors, fearing persecution, sought refuge for the sacred fire. Participants in the seven to 23 age group from different places, including Canada, benefited from the refresher course conducted by ex-student Ervad Homi Gandevia. As mentioned principal Adi Bhiwandiwalla, there are five scholars who reside on the Madressa premises.

All the candidates were offered free medical check-ups. Family physician Dr Nusly P. J. Pocha conducted the medical examination and advised follow-up treatment where necessary. This was supplemented by examinations by dentist Dr Arnavaz Havewalla and the team from Dr Kulin Kothari’s ophthalmological center. The doctors then advised the participants on the importance of good health through proper care and personal hygiene. Availing of the doctors’ presence, every person on the premises was thoroughly examined and offered follow-up advice, adds the release.
