One hundred and one

Publisher and author Marzban J. Giara has brought out a 64-page booklet in English titled Daadaar Ahura Mazda’s 101 Names — Their Meanings and Efficacy. Nominally priced at Rs 10, the pocket sized explanatory booklet gives the English meaning of each of Ahura Mazda’s 101 names. The advantages of reciting these names with piety and understanding while rotating the beads in one’s rosary are unfathomable, stresses Giara.

Citing his inspiration for writing the book "as the result of a lecture delivered by Ervad Nozer Burjorji Mehenty,” a boiwalla at the H. B. Wadia Atas Bahram on March 9, 2005, under the auspices of the Rahnu-mae Mazdayasnan Sabha, Giara said he obtained a Gujarati copy of the booklet Mehenty referred to and started translating it into English the next day.

"It is my fervent hope and belief that this booklet will motivate my fellow Parsi Zarathushtis to pray and reap the benefits,” states Giara in the introduction to the book dated March 21, 2005. The book is available from the author at Dhunmai Building, 667, Lady Jehangir Road, Dadar, Bombay 400014, tel: 24166204, e-mail: giara@vsnl.com
