“Protecting Parsi trusts”

The water harvesting capacity created by the Mhow Anjuman is not 50,000 litres as printed in "Protecting Parsi trusts” (Parsiana, October 2004), but 15 million litres annually. In the four wells situated in the agiary complex and residential anjuman buildings — 788,240 litres; and at Doongerwadi called Parsi Tekri — 14,400,000 litres. Thus the total comes to — 15,188,240 litres.
A total rainwater harvesting capacity of about 2,128 million litres per annum has already been created in this medium sized town of Mhow through motivation of just one small institution such as the Lions Club of Mhow.
We have been instrumental in initiating various water conservation works in Mhow and the surrounding villages. To name a few:
A fair sized lake of 55 million litres capacity has been constructed through the aegis of the Infantry School, Mhow.
Open wells, tube wells and soakage pits in four schools were charged with harvested rainwater. A number of private individuals were motivated and have installed harvesting capacity of about 130 million litres of rainwater per annum.
