Trusts
Need a helping hand?
Education abroad being an expensive proposition, most students keen to pursue postgraduate studies in the West have to depend on scholarships and loans. There are 40 (?) trusts (as listed below) which offer scholarships to meritorious students. While the majority of the trusts are Parsi founded, some other cosmopolitan trusts with a similar objective have been included too.
In India those needing financial aid for college studies can turn to the 30 Parsi charity funds assisting such students. In times of major illnesses, there are 20 charity funds which can be approached for medical help.
The three lists were provided to us by the Bombay Parsi Punchayet. Applicants for postgraduate studies abroad should bear in mind that certain documentary proof is a prerequisite: letters of admission and assistantship from foreign university, estimate of costs for first year of study, marksheets and degree certificates for all examinations taken, letters of reference from college, principal and professors, resume, salary certificate/Income Tax returns of parents.
