The final settlement

"Feroz’s partner is suspected to have masterminded the murder over the property dispute and failed settlement. We have identified the culprits and they will be arrested very soon,” deputy commissioner of police Pratap Dighavkar was quoted in The Times of India of June 18, 2004. Just a day earlier Bombay dailies carried news of 21-year-old Feroz Keki Karai being shot at the entrance of the family’s ground floor apartment at Dadar’s Parsi Colony at around 8.30 p.m. The assailants allegedly fled from the scene in their Santro car. Karai was rushed to the Sion Hospital but he was declared dead before arrival.
According to the police, Karai had been running a restaurant called Fishland in New Bombay. The business opened in October 2003 but after disputes allegedly arose over the property, the restaurant was reportedly closed five months ago. "Since then Feroz’s associate allegedly kept pestering him for a settlement while the youth asked for more time,” conveyed The Times.
