Parsi New Year holiday
The Government of Maharashtra has declared August 20, 2004, Parsi New Year, as a public holiday.
The initiative in this matter was taken by the chairman of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) Minoo Shroff addressing a letter to the Congress president Sonia Gandhi, which in turn was endorsed to the chief minister of Maharashtra Sushilkumar Shinde.
Thanks to regular follow up at the Mantralaya by the BPP, social activists such as Ratu Dastur, Firoz J. Kotwal, Mehernosh Fitter as well as various Parsi bodies our community festival has been reinstated.
