Medal for Marker
His excellent performance, dedication and devotion to service beyond the call of duty earned Commodore Aspi Dhunjishaw Marker the Nau Sena Medal at the hands of the President of India on January 26, 2003. Currently serving as commanding officer of INS Angre and commodore at Bombay’s Naval Barracks, Marker had played a leading role in organizing relief work for the earthquake victims of Gujarat in January 2001.

Marker: devotion to duty
Shifting his headquarters from Porbandar to Kandla for better coordination and control of naval resources, within 12 hours he was able to convert two survey ships of the Indian Navy into hospital ships and organize the distribution of 250 tonnes of relief material. His ability to get Kandla Port operational in a record time of 72 hours was considered a rare feat (see "Marker’s Maritime aid,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, May 2001).
After being commissioned into the executive branch of the Indian Navy in 1971 during his three decades of service he has commanded INS Nipat, Nirghat, Khukri, Agnibahu and Shakti with distinction, notes his life profile. Over the years he has been appointed on the faculty as directing staff of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, the Defence Service Staff College, Wellington and the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad, adds the write-up.
