French honor

His devotion to "the cause of knowledge and culture for the progress of science and education” won Dr Vispy M. Meher-Homji an honor from the French Government. Through a decree of the Prime Minister of France dated March 5, 2002 he was promoted to the rank of officer in the Order of Palmes Académiques, according to a com­muniqué in French from the ministry of national education, Republic of France.



Meher-Homji: special merit


"Your personality and your merit would be an additional source of vitality for the Association (of the Members of the Order of Palmes Académiques) which has the advantage of uniting scholars duly recognized for their merits...” notes a letter from the Association.
Meher-Homji was formerly director (research) at the French Institute (of Scientific Research), Pondicherry, and the founder and dean of the School of Ecology, Pondicherry University, states the press release. He is presently active with the Save Udvada Committee.
