Ripon Club meeting

The Ripon Club has called an extraordinary general meeting of members on December 19, at 5 p.m. to discuss "a final offer” negotiated with the landlords, the N. M. Wadia Trust, to settle the eviction suit filed by the trustees.

The notice makes no mention of the compromise terms, but unconfirmed reports state that in return for the Club surrendering the fourth floor tenancy in the N. M. Wadia Building, the landlord has offered a compensation of one crore rupees and a 100-year lease at a very nominal rent.

The issue of permitting women full-fledged membership in the Club will not be taken up.
