BPP pre election meet
Sitting facilities, shade, fans, drinking water and tea or coffee will be provided to voters at the Sunday April 10, Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) trusteeship elections. Election commissioner Mahiyar Dastoor and BPP trustee Kersi Randeria briefed the candidates and the Press on the provisions on March 30. Yazdi Tantra who will be in charge of the technical aspects of the elections explained the voting procedures and displayed the machines to be used. Staff from Deloitte Haskins and Sells who are to audit the voting process were present to answer any queries.
Of the five candidates contesting the elections two, Kersi Sethna and Eric Dhatigara have refused to sign the voluntary code of conduct. The remaining three, sitting BPP trustee Armaity Tirandaz, former BPP trustee Arnavaz Mistry and Ervad Rayomand Joshi have signed.
According to reports, Sethna and Dhatigara are likely to move the Bombay High Court on March 31, objecting to the use of electronic voting machines (EVM) in the elections.
