Gulbanoo, the gracious

Welcomed by Kairah Pestonji, granddaughter of Capt Kayarmin Pestonji, president of the fire temple’s board of trustees, the eight-year-old read out a prepared speech stating that the 93-year-old Chenoy "has been a pillar of strength, contributing over 50 years of service in her capacity as managing committee member as well as trustee/president of the PZASH.”
"Gulbanooo’s enduring commitment to the community extended beyond her official roles… Her compassionate nature and approachable demeanor make her a beloved figure within our community… She is also known for her unwavering integrity and has been a source of inspiration, fostering a sense of unity and cooperation among members.” Commending her leadership style, the little girl noted that Gulbanoo was an "effective decision-maker and also a compassionate listener… Gulbanoo’s ability to navigate complex situations with grace and tact has been instrumental in maintaining harmony within the Anjuman.”
Chenoy chose not to seek re-nomination when her term of office expired (see "New PZASH president,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, December 21, 2023-January 6, 2024).
Chenoy was presented with a shawl by Capt Pestonji; a letter of appreciation by managing trustee Cyrus Irani; a floral bouquet from trustee Zubin Viccajee and a hand embroidered handbag from trustee Kaizad Pestonji. F. J.
