Donations for disabilities

Kinder Trust is a non-profit organization (NPO) registered in 2017. Founded by me, it is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities in the Nilgiris. The other trustees are corporate professionals V. S. Ramana and Shreenivas Naidu, as well as Samantha, from the field of travel and tourism. Kinder Trust has set up a free Rehabilitation Centre with four physiotherapists, an audiometrist, psychologist and trainers, with proper equipment and a full-fledged administration and finance department. It is supported by visiting doctors and serves around 10,000 persons with disability in the area. Phase I included all pain syndromes, orthopedic and neurological disorders and loco-motor disabilities, while Phase II included speech and hearing disabilities and mental illness.

Kinder Trust has a technical alliance with Association of People with Disability in Bangalore (one of the largest nongovernmental organizations in the disability sector) as well as several hospitals/medical centers for concessional/free treatment and camps. Specialists in pediatric, pediatric cardiology, neurology, psychology and physiotherapy volunteer their services whenever needed.

Since January 2022 we have assisted 65 beneficiaries with different types of surgeries and held 27 free medical camps for pediatric health, autism, eye care and distribution of spectacles, hearing aids, assistive devices, wheel chairs, new age prosthetics, crutches, walkers and walking sticks. In addition, 238 health care workers were sensitized by conducting outreach programs at 62 locations and two public health centers with emphasis on early intervention.

The present facilities, which are located in two different buildings 5 km apart in Coonoor, Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu, are no longer adequate to meet the ever growing demands. We need a new building as a single hub for all our activities. Consolidating the two centers will save operational costs, expand our range of offerings, improve our service levels and create a more inclusive environment for individuals with disabilities.

We request your assistance by way of donations which will enable us to purchase the building where individuals with disabilities can access our programs and services. This will have a lasting and profound impact on the lives of those living with disabilities/pain in the Nilgiris.
