Sport summit

By Parinaz M. Gandhi · December 7-December 21, 2022
"It was an honor to represent India at the international summit ‘Sport for All: Cohesive, Accessible and Tailored to each Person,’ and interact with great like minds and solidify my commitment to sport,” commented Adille Sumariwalla, president of the Athletics Federation of India. He was delighted to shake hands with Pope Francis and attend the proceedings in the New Synod at the Vatican on September 29 and 30, 2022. The event was held by the Dicastery for Culture and Education and the John Paul II Foundation for Sport.

The Dicastery for Culture and Education is an administrative unit of the Roman Curia that began operations last June. It was formed through the merger of two earlier bodies, the Pontifical Council for Culture and the Congregation for Catholic Education, notes Wikiwand. The John Paul II Foundation for Sport, launched in 2011, "aims through sport to enable everyone, in particular the young, to develop their full potential across the PIES — the physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual aspects of their lives,” it is explained on catholiceducation.org.uk.
At the conclusion of the summit in the presence of the Pope, 200 participants were invited to sign the declaration with commitment to increasingly promote in their own institutions and sports organizations the social and inclusive dimension of sport, stated Sumariwalla.
When Parsiana enquired with Sumariwalla why he sent the report so late he candidly replied, "Got pics late.”
