Nowroze Baug “normalcy”

By Farrokh Jijina · November 21-December 6, 2021
"Children were seen displaying their enthusiasm with colorful rangolis at the badminton court with the youngest participant being just four years old,” noted Nowroze Baug Play Centre (NPC) honorary secretary Yasmin Engineer in an email sent to Parsiana.
With the city returning back to "normalcy,” the NPC and Nowrosjee N. Wadia Welfare League (NNWWL) jointly organized activities in their colony, the oldest of the five Wadia baugs in the city. The rangoli competition on October 31, 2021 witnessed the celebration of Diwali with colors and diyas by the children and adults. Twenty-four adult participants were free to select any theme based on current topics with an appropriate message.

The competition was judged by Yogendra Khatu, art teacher at Andheri’s St Blaise High School. Khatu also distributed the prizes. "The competition ended with distribution of snack boxes to all participants,” said Engineer, who thanked Perzon and Meher Porbunderwalla for arranging Zorabian chicken gift vouchers and Nozer and Binaifer Patel for arranging Godrej Yummiez vouchers.
Their August table tennis tournament saw 40 members aged 12 to 60 years participating in five different age groups whereas a carrom tournament in September brought into the fray 60 participants between 16 and 75 years of age. F. J.
