Zoroastrians Abroad
Turnout in Tehran
"Today 36 people attended… In my opinion, these 36 people are more valuable than 3,600,” commented Esfandiar Khosravi when convening the annual general meeting of the Tehran Zoroastrian Anjuman on July 3, 2021. Prior to the pandemic, the average attendance would be between 120-200, clarified Anjuman president Afshin Namiranian when responding to queries from Parsiana.

According to a report of the meeting carried on amordadnews.com, three billion, sixty-six million Iranian rials (Rs 54,35,277) were paid as education subsidy last year. Nearly 95% of this amount is expended on pre-university education and the remaining five percent to university students, stated Namiranian. A higher sum of four billion, 402 million rials (Rs 78,03,683) was spent on health care. Almost half of this sum was spent on paying patients’ bills and the other half for repairing and buying new facilities for the Yeganegi Clinic, Namiranian told Parsiana. When a Tehran resident questioned why expenditure was incurred on the Clinic that was closed, he was explained that a major part of this amount was spent on the salaries and insurance of the staff whose emoluments needed to be paid in appreciation of their loyal service over the years. Khosravi too commended the loyalty of the staff who have "served the association and the community for many years.” After repairs, the Clinic was reopened last August so that it can work optimally.
Administrative expenses included maintaining the endowments and buildings of the association and expenses of the secretariat.
