Sanitization after surge

With not a single known Covid positive case remaining in Godrej Baug (GB), sanitization work was undertaken at the colony for five days in the last week of May 2021 with funding from Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Member of the Legislative Assembly. The 17 buildings, annexes, agiary compound, Eco Park, open pavilion, roads, driveways, underground car parks, common toilets, garbage collection and recycling plant were all duly sprayed. Different days were devoted to cover four clusters of buildings for which the sanitation personnel went up and down four floors, spraying the building entrances, passageways, stairways and banisters. Their apparatus with the special fountain flow hose was supposed to ensure that no polish or paint would peel off or white stains remain.

Had the cost been borne by the Godrej Baug Residents Welfare Association (GBRWA), it would have been around Rs 1.25 lakhs, mentioned GBRWA secretary Shahrukh Bilimoria appreciating the Lodha Foundation’s support. GBRWA did not have to bear any expenditure barring gifting a token sum to the sanitization staff who spent nearly two hours each day at Godrej Baug. The guidance and cooperation from Sagar Upale and Anita Swami of the Lodha Foundation facilitated the sanitization work considerably, as did the support of the GB security personnel, acknowledged Bilimoria.
Every week the GBRWA provides the Bombay Parsi Punchayet an update on their efforts to control the spread of coronavirus in the colony. With the sanitization duly completed, the Association is hopeful that the scary scenario of the past has been put behind them, at least for the present.
A few months ago the Lodha Foundation undertook the cleaning of the overhead and underground water tanks at Godrej Baug at a cost of nearly Rs 1.5 lakhs.

All 17 buildings and four cottages of Gamadia Colony are being sanitized by the Gamadia Colony Welfare Association, mentioned Sanober Tampal, the Association secretary in an email to Parsiana.
The sanitization process started in May 2020 with buildings being sprayed with disinfectant every fortnight initially and when the pandemic was at its peak in 2021, the exercise was conducted on a weekly basis. The disinfectant spraying machine was purchased by the Association and the Colony helpers regularly undertake the task. The entire process is coordinated by the Association’s sub-committee member Neveille Wadia and Tampal.
"Though Gamadia Colony is not a ‘gated’ colony, we believe Covid incidents are well under control,” believes Tampal. Roxan A. Driver
