“PGH: Deadline given”
Do Khushru Zaiwala and Zoru Bhathena know what an incalculable damage will be done to our community if Jal Shroff is forced to withdraw his offer to The B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital (PGH) after March 31, 2019 ("PGH: Deadline given,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, November 21, 2018)? The curse of the community would land on the heads of Bhathena and Zaiwala should Shroff’s offer fall through.
It is a great shame that a microscopic community of under 40,000 in Bombay and Thana can’t see eye to eye on such an immense issue! The alleged glitches should be swiftly resolved with the Charity Commissioner, Bombay Municipal Corporation, etc so that Shroff and Medanta do not run out of patience.
I found out during my 10 years’ tenure as the Bombay Parsi Punchayet’s chief executive officer that 25% of the problems voiced were frivolous, and solved, except one at Dadar.

With the donors weary of the stalemate afflicting the proposal to incorporate a cosmopolitan hospital (model pictured) with the latest facilities within The B. D. Petit Parsee General Hospital (PGH) property we may lose out on a timely opportunity to bring PGH out of the red ("PGH: Deadline given,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, November 21, 2018).
I don’t see anything wrong with this proposal, with all modern facilities that can be availed of even by patients in our old PGH.
My only caveat would be: keep a separate entrance to the new facility, with a totally walled-up division between the new wing and our dear, old estate with its exclusive, quiet garden and parking facility. A connection between the old and the new can be established by bridge passage(s) at upper levels, for ease of transferring patients for tests, etc.
The tranquility and atmosphere of our old PGH should not be compromised at any cost.
