By Farrokh Jijina · December 21, 2017
Thirty-one photographs of Udvada and six of Navsari shot by Baroda based photographer Homiyar Tavadia were exhibited at a show titled "Photographic exhibition of Parsi Chronicles” at Nazar Art Gallery in Baroda, as part of Heritage Week, till November 26, 2017. Also on display were sudrehs, kustis, torans, jablas, topis and a copy of the Avesta. Organized by the Heritage Trust to celebrate the 507th anniversary of the founding of the city, the events included exhibitions, heritage and nature walks, rickshaw tours, visits to home museums and illustrated talks, according to the Trust’s website. The exhibition was inaugurated by Baman Cama, president of the Shree Parsi Panchayat of Baroda.

"It was my personal journey,” Tavadia told Parsiana over the phone on November 29. A former employee of Hindustan Unilever, the photographer informed the magazine that he has been visiting Udvada on every Bahram roz for the last 10 years. The event was "very well received by Parsis and non Parsis alike, including artists, photographers, historians and students,” he remarked on the phone from Bhilwara in Rajasthan, where he was on a photo shoot.
Formed in 1984 by "like-minded architects, artists, art historians, archaeologists, historians, museologists and writers interested in conservation of different kinds of heritage of the city,” the Trust functions as the Baroda Chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH).
