CHILDReach in need

CHILDReach is a voluntary, nonprofit organization of parents and professionals in charge of individuals with special needs.
Our objectives are to create awareness programs among parents, resource persons and also the government in obtaining necessary academic concessions for these children in regular schools. Approximately 20% of Indian children have learning difficulties and they drop out of school.
CHILDReach has two major projects to its credit: The CHILDReach School was started in 1999 in the Tank Lane (Bombay Municipal Corporation) School, Santacruz. Admitting students from the age of six years, we follow the NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) curriculum where students are given an educational program that suits their individual needs with activities like sports, counseling, dance, drama, yoga, art and craft which develop the student’s creativity. Our school gets 100% results in Stds X and XII.

The Pre Vocational Centre and Polytechnic where Farida Vakeel is the principal was conceived as a bridge between school and the outside world. There was a need to create awareness about career and employment options as well as provide soft skills required for the children to become well-adjusted individuals. To make them socially competent and develop interpersonal skills for success, this program teaches them life skills like culinary arts, basic home management, handicraft, computers, photography. We focus on the ability in disability.
To enable us to expand our activities and help us in this noble cause we welcome donations. Hufrish Bamji is our treasurer. Cheques are to be drawn in favor of CHILDReach and sent to the undersigned at 808, Boman Lodge, 2nd floor, Khodadad Circle, Dadar (E), Bombay 400014. For any enquiries contact us on email: childreachmumbai@gmail.com. All donations are exempted under section 80/G of the Income Tax Act.
