Mahim splash
Enthusiastic parents from the Navajbai Contractor Baug in Mahim organized a pool party in the newly created Toddlers’ Park on October 15, 2016 for children aged from nine months to 12 years, notes an email received from Monaz Gadiwalla. Among the other organizers were Yasmin Eduljee, Auzita and Nazneen Dastur.

Contractor Baug children at pool party
Against the backdrop of a slide, swings and merry-go-round, brightly colored rubber dinghies were brought out, to serve as makeshift swimming pools. The children expended their energies splashing in the pools and spurting jets of water all around while the elders looked on.
The colony has witnessed greater activity with the newly elected administrative committee led by president Mehernosh Sidikala assisted by office bearers Mehernosh Aurophy, Farokh Koshravi and others. The "resurrection” of the colony was long overdue and with the permission and monetary assistance of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet a great deal has been achieved, reveals an email received from the Contractor Baug committee. Funds were also received from a charitable minded donor from Hong Kong and residents of the Baug.
Some of the welcome changes include the paving of the inside roads, with a plot set aside for a playground where games like football and netball can be played. Equipment in the children’s area is painted in bright colors, with the wall of a cottage facing it covered in play pictures. The area is well illuminated to ensure the safety of residents, especially children and the elderly, after dark. The roads in the colony have tubelights. Adjoining the play area is a well revered by residents, which has been spruced up.
Traffic has been regulated with one-way lanes to ensure smooth flow of vehicles. Sections are earmarked for parking of cars and two-wheelers. Residents blessed with green fingers are encouraged to create neat little gardens outside their homes, with the allocated area cemented off to prevent unauthorized expansion, the email states.
