Academic accolades

Among the recipients of the Rashtriya Vidya Saraswati Award for 2013, presented by the International Institute of Education and Management, New Delhi, on July 24 last were Prof (Dr) Sorab Sadri of the Jaipur Engineering College and Research Centre (JECRC) and his wife Prof (Dr) Jayashree, a behavioral scientist. Since the last 60 years the Institute has been working closely with corporate foundations, governments and nongovernmental organizations to implement activities in higher education scholarship administration, leadership development and critical development fields. According to the JECRC website, this is "probably for the first time in India that a husband and wife” are receiving the accolade in the same year. Sorab, professor and director of the School of Humanities of JECRC was honored for his work on Political Economy, Organizational Excellence and Business Sustainability, while his wife received it for her research on Human Resource Development and Business Ethics, mentions an email received by Parsiana from the former. The couple has settled in Poona, but Sorab, who is originally from Jamshedpur, travels to Jaipur for his work.

The academic pair has co-authored a book and between them published several others along with over 100 papers. With 12 years’ experience in the corporate world and about 32 in the academic field, Sorab is one of the most respected names in the Indian business schools circuit and has received many honors and awards, mentions his profile. An approved doctoral degree guide at a number of universities in the fields of management and social sciences, he has been guiding MPhil and PhD students since 1987 and is on the editorial committee of four international journals, the University’s website reveals. The JECRC University is launching a "high end BSc economics program in Jaipur… and (it) is my academic baby,” Sorab writes in his email.
Sorab is on the research panel of the All India Council for Technical Education on knowledge management; his name was mentioned in USA’s "academic who’s who” 2010 and in India’s since 2008. In June 2012 he was given an Award of Honor from M. S. University of Baroda for his two decade long contribution towards "Faculty Development in Social and Management Sciences” mentions the list of awards and achievements. On October 9, 2012 he was conferred the Indira Gandhi Siksha Shiromani Award in New Delhi, instituted by the government of India.
