A joy forever

Out of a youthful spirit of joy and musti,/ Some Parsi girls had themselves photographed without the sudreh and kusti.

A few fuddy-duddies made "Much ado about nothing”/ Because "practically nothing” is what the calendar girls are wearing.

The orthodox are furious and seriously fret/ That BPP now stands for Bombay Playboy Punchayet.

For dirty old men, let me stress,/ That next year, the girls will be wearing even less!

Bring out the champagne and ring the bells —/ The girls will be wearing the sudreh and kusti — and nothing else!

On seeing the calendar the whole world will shout "Wow!”/ So please book your calendar now!

Desai sent the poem to a friend who responded:
Dear Jal, don’t you have any fear?/ How dare you sneer/ At girls who wear less gear/ Than you, you dirty old queer?

You sex-starved senile dude,/ Your suggestion is extremely crude./ Do you really expect the girls to pose in the nude?/ Yours truly, the world’s biggest prude!
