Tall towers

The Imperial, the 60-storey twin towers at Tardeo, have been granted the occupation certificate by the Bombay Municipal Corporation. Now visible clearly from Marine Drive, homes are ready to be handed over to their owners in the over 800 ft high buildings constructed amidst controversy and court cases by SD Corporation, a joint undertaking by construction giant Shapoorji Pallonji and Company Limited and developer Dilip Thacker. The buildings, designed by Hafeez Contractor, are currently the tallest residential skyscrapers in India.

Giving The Sunday Express readers a "sneak-peak” into the luxury apartments, the paper quotes Suleman Budhwani, vice president, business development, in its edition of April 18: "The Imperial has set a benchmark in Indian construction technology... Buying a home in The Imperial is akin to owning an apartment in a luxury hotel.”
On the upper floors, each of the apartments of 10,000 sq ft has "a lavish seating area, five bedrooms, a massive balcony and a tastefully appointed kitchen, with remote-controlled switches and curtains... the cherry on top is a 2,000 sq ft private pool area.” Apartments on higher floors are a status symbol as they are more expensive than those on the lower floors, Budhwani told The Sunday Express.
Lower level apartments are around 4,400 sq ft with fewer bedrooms. The prices quoted in the paper range from Rs 40 crore to Rs 85-87 crore for the more prestigious apartments.
Pallonji Mistry, the chairman of the Shapoorji Pallonji Group, is reportedly Ireland’s richest man, with a worth of £ 3.9 billion. Mistry became an Irish citizen in 2003. His wife Patsy was born in Ireland, according to press reports. One of his firms being the biggest sponsor of the recent Ninth World Zoroastrian Congress in Dubai, Mistry attended its deliberations.
