“The road ahead”
I have been reading the letters of Behram Aga and Behram Dastur over the last few months as well as Rooyintan Peer’s comments, the editors’ reply and the replies of Aga and Dastur which appeared under the headline "The road ahead” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, March 7, 2009).
Indeed Peer committed a gaffe regarding Mickie Sorabjee’s gender and the "dual name game” of Dastur/Aga has been well set at rest by the editors’ reply, but even so I would say that eminent (people) lost due to what Peer rightly calls "destructive leadership.” Had (they) stood either as an independent or on a World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis ticket, I am sure they would have won.
Thus while Peer can be faulted for his rash deductions mentioned above, he deserves our praise for the daring and accurate assertion regarding the founder-leadership of the Adult Franchise for Progress (AFP). The result of the second Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) election during the last seven months or so clearly exposes the claims of the higher ups in AFP/AZA (Alert Zoroastrians Association) and proves their lack of knowledge of the essential qualities required of a trustee of the BPP.
