Renovated in record time

In an ambitious exercise the Calcutta Zoroastrian Community’s Religious and Charity Fund (CZCRCF) renovated the Olpadvala Memorial Trust Hall in a little under three months, as per a write-up in Calcutta Gavashni, the newsletter of the CZCRCF, October 2006-February 2007 issue. Work began in the first week of September 2006 and the new look hall was declared open on November 25. There was a complete transformation, from putting in marble flooring, false ceilings, new lighting and air conditioning system, altering the layout of the stage and fitting in a completely new kitchen.
Russi Jeejeebhoy, CZCRCF trustee, masterminded the operation with able assistance from Sam Medora, the hardworking CEO. Cawas Nazir, Erach Bamji and Malcolm Contractor offered their valuable time and expertise to ensure that work went according to plan, states the Calcutta Gavashni. Nazir looked after all matters related to structural and engineering work, Bamji supervised the air conditioning contract and Contractor helped put together the electrical fittings and lights. Also involved were Roshan Dandiwala and Khush Medora who, at short notice, redecorated the two rooms on the mezzanine floor, reveals the write-up The 500-seater hall has now been transformed into a place that can rival any posh banquet hall in a five star hotel.
