“They know how to…”
Cinema has done, what Parsiana could not – brought out the other side of the "pure breed” community. Kudos to Kaevan Umrigar ("They know how to survive,” Parsiana, July 21, 2006) for showing how Beruj Irani of Nazereth Chawl, Poona is cared for by his "juddin” working-class neighbors. Umrigar should also visit Jaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer (there is an agiary here), Neemuch (agiary here too) and see how the Parsis live here; their problems of land and land sharks. Nearer Bombay visit the Parsi addas (strongholds) of Gujarat to see and show how those who have not left for greener pastures are living — mostly with the help of non-Parsis.
Let’s have more of "They know how to survive” and less of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet, Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America, World Zoroastrian Organisation, The World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis, etc.
