Faced with a fire
Some say the community is dwindling
Others say this is a myth
But that is enough for the kindling
Of a "fire” we have to live with.
There is not a single matter
That we Parsis are agreed upon
Whether in writing or idle chatter
The battlelines are drawn.
The ramblings were a monthly affair
With Parsiana setting the stage
Mud-slinging and brickbats lay bare
The animosity, page by page.
The readers’ letters come oftener
Laden with fear and fright
The Parsiana is no "softener”
By appearing every fortnight.
Some crave for following tradition
With safeguards on all flanks
Others want the addition
Of "converts” to our ranks.
Some to the "dakhma” heed
To take those passed away
Others for cremation proceed
And demand the right to pray.
Let’s put all our egos aside
There’s a lot of work to be done
And let both factions decide
On how to live as One
But suppose, one now re-thinks
That infighting should persist
Peace may bring on a jinx
And Parsiana cease to exist!
