Baroda scholarships

At the annual merit award function organized by the Shree Parsi Panchayat, Vadodara on November 27, 2004, Farzad Minoo Damania of Bombay was conferred the Prof Sohrab Manchershaw Wadia Scholar­ship and Rushad Dhun­rumi Patell the Dr Rustom B. Cama Medi­cal Scholarship for 2003-04. Applications for these scholarships from "outstanding students with consistently excellent record” were invited from all over India (see "Scholarships,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, June 2004).



Damania: Wadia scholar


Damania who won the scholarship of Rs 20,000 along with a merit award certificate has secured admission to Oklahoma State University, USA to pursue his MSc in electrical engineering. Having obtained 91 percent marks in the Higher Secondary Certifi­cate examination, Damania did his Bachelor of Engineering (elec­tronics and communications) where he secured 70 percent marks.
Besides academics he has also excelled in extracurricular activi­ties like scouting and renders social service to the destitute and disabled, notes a press release from Dr Phiroze S. Wadia who is on the education committee of Shree Parsi Pan­chayat, Vado­dara.



Patel: Ca-ma scholar


Patell of Baroda was presented the scholarship of Rs 5,000 for the second successive year. Having passed his first MBBS examination with 72 percent marks, at the annual All Gujarat Medical Colleges competition he was judged the best student and given the Mr Vibrant Award. The awards were presented at the hands of Dr Armaity Desai, well known educationist and social worker, adds Wadia.
