Along God’s way

Since childhood, I have been seeing that the world is turning more materialistic and less spiritual. It is becoming more rigid with money replacing God. Over the years I have been asking God only one question: "Why didn’t you give me life a hundred years ago when this world was more loving, a time when life was worth living?” Just when I had lost hope of getting a reply, He answered me!
It was on a Tuesday evening, drizzling and cold. While the streets were deserted and all were comfy in their homes, I was busy knocking on doors of Parsi houses collecting information for the Dahanu Zoroastrian Directory. Tired and wet, I wanted to call it off for the day. Just when I was about to, I thought of covering one last Parsi family. They were simple people and lived on the ground floor of their building.
On entering the complex, I was stunned by what I saw! There was a cow and a stray dog standing just outside their apartment door. The cow had dirtied the place and the dog looked as shabby as ever!
When I rang their bell, the daughter welcomed me in. Her parents were also at home. After greeting them all, I at once pointed towards their entrance and informed them about the cow and the dog. As I finished speaking, the man gave me a sweet smile and said in a soft voice, "My son, if you and I were in their place, we would have got wet in the rain and caught a chill. It is good to be kind to animals and help them when they need us. Once it stops raining, they will go away. Till then, I will let them stay!”
However small his deed was, it touched my heart! I had never come across a family like his! Through him and his good deed, God finally answered my question! He made me realize my purpose in today’s world. God has given me a chance to spread goodness at a time when all have forgotten His way!
