Faith or frivolity

It seems that Parsis living abroad suddenly become conscious of their religion and start showing undue interest in matters which are basically a non-issue. What other explanation is there for the remarks of maestro Zubin Mehta on using our Zoroastrian symbols in a foreign film — which according to him is a sign of disrespect to our faith?
Bogged down as we are in useless controversies which in no way do any good to our community, this is one more non-issue to waste time and energy over!
Retired persons I feel should do some constructive work for the Parsis living in India and not indulge in the type of gossip that our mathabana clad ladies used to do in the past.
Here we are standing on the brink of extinction and still talking about whether to admit the children of non-Parsi mothers in our faith — or whether to breed vultures to continue dakhmenashini in a crowded metropolis like Bombay. Does it really matter?
Let the fresh winds of change blow. Let us admit all our children irrespective of the faith of their mothers or fathers. Let even outsiders who wish to follow our great and noble religion be allowed to do so without fear or favor. Only if the Parsis remain and multiply will the Zoroastrian faith, which is one of the noblest and the best among the many, flourish and grow.
