"Scarcity of sandalwood"

By Rev DAVID BROCK, Oregon, USA · March 1, 2004
Regarding sandalwood, I used to use this all the time for incense during my "solar jashan" as this wood is one of many considered "masculine" (and having a correspondence with the sun). Now it is much harder to get, so I have substituted oak bark, which is also "masculine" and is "solar." Perhaps tree knowledge by the ancient Zoroastrians in Persia was limited as they came from areas without many different trees. Substituting other woods for sandalwood is okay in my view especially if they correspond.
